Bulgaria is a country in the Balkans region of Europe, bordered by Romania, Serbia, Republic of Macedonia, Greece and Turkey. It functions as a parliamentary democracy, being a member of the European Union from 2007. The country has a rich history which we will see in this guided tour.

The population of the country is approximately 7, 640, 238. The major ethnic groups in the country are 81% Bulgarians, 9% Roma, 8% Turkish and the remaining 2% minority groups. The per Capita income of the population is $12, 252. The economy of the country has rapid growth in the last couple of years after Bulgaria joined the European Union. The Bulg country is a major producer of electricity in the Balkan’s region. Georgi Parvanov is the present President of the country. He was elected to the presidency in the year 2006. The 28 provinces of the country are headed by a provincial Governor.

Bulgaria has many important tourist destinations. There are winter ski resorts in Samokov, Borovets, Bansko and Pamporovo. There are excellent summer resorts on the Black Sea. Sozopol, Nessebur and Golden Sands are some of the well known summer resorts which are among the main Bulgaria attractions. Football has become the most important national sports in the country after Bulgaria won the fourth place in the 1994 soccer World Cup in the USA.

Human Resources
The program covers various areas of management of human resources, including selection, training, development, evaluation, compensation of employees, international labor laws and strategic human resource management. It aims to provide leading-edge conceptual and practical understanding of human resource management in unfamiliar situations and is designed to prepare students to recognize, analyze, and solve complex human resource management issues and facilitate management decision making. The undergraduate program prepares students for a career as an HR Manager or personnel director and the graduate program provides managers with the in-depth knowledge and skills necessary to significantly contribute at a senior level to their organization?s human resources and industrial relations functions.

Management Information Systems
Global communication and information technology now plays a major role in modern business. Today every type of successful organization worldwide relies upon information technology to build its business infrastructure, increase productivity, and explore new sources for strategic advances. The Management Information Systems concentration provides students with the knowledge and ability to design implement and manage information technology, business processes and systems. The course also covers business fundamentals, general management theory, human resources management and behavior, accounting, organization, marketing, and business decision-making as well as addressing the information needs of modern business and provides students with the knowledge and skills required to effectively analyze business problems and design computerized systems to solve them. With this concentration, students learn to recognize and analyze management needs for information and identify efficient and effective methods to provide this information. The course will allow students to build and manage information systems and to use technology to solve real world business problems. This is an interdisciplinary program offered in conjunction with the Department of Computer Science but the emphasis is on the application of information technology rather than the computer itself.
Students who wish to have a greater emphasis on business knowledge should choose the Management Information Systems program through this department whereas those wishing to have a greater emphasis on Computer technology should choose the Information Technology programs offered though the university?s College of Computer Science and Information Technology.
