At the insistence of my date, we’ll be wearing Sonny and Cher costumes to this year’s Halloween party. Not that I have anything against Cher, mind you, it’s just that I would have rather geeked out and dressed up like a comic book character. If you don’t have a domineering woman in your life, then you may still have that option. Here are a few suggestions:

Costumes from the Comics

The Flash – The distinctive one-piece red jumpsuit with the lighting bolt emblem is a classic any way you cut it.

Wonder Woman – The famed Amazon princess has had a number of looks over the years, but her classic costume is still the most popular. I’m also a big fan of the anime Wonder Woman look, complete with armor and a battle helmet.

Superman – It doesn’t get any more classic that Superman’s red and blue costume. Too bad the power of flight doesn’t come with the outfit.

Captain America – The Captain America movie rolled into theaters in 2011, and he’ll also appear in The Avengers in 2012. The most popular version right now differs slightly from the comic books, but that bitchin’ shield makes any version a winner.

Batman – The Caped Crusader is a perfect option for Halloween, since his gimmick is to scare the daylights out of criminals. If you’re willing to shell out several hundred dollars, you can get a Batman costume that looks almost like the version seen in the movies.

Thor – The god of thunder has experienced a boost in popularity due to the Chris Hemsworth movie, and that should continue into 2012 with the release of The Avengers. Make sure you get a hammer to complete the wardrobe.

Wolverine – You may not have the build of Hugh Jackman, but luckily a number of Wolverine costumes comes with their own built-in muscles.

The Joker – While the Clown Prince of Crime has been a favorite DC villain for years, Heath Ledger’s performance in The Dark Knight helped sales of Joker Halloween costumes rocket to a whole other level.

Spider-Man – The Friendly Neighborhood Wall-Crawler has been the face of Marvel Comics for years. The popularity of the movie franchise didn’t hurt sales of Spider-Man costumes, either. Web shooters not included.

I hope Sonny and Cher will be a big hit at the Halloween party, especially when we’re forced to sing “I Got You Babe” a dozen or so times. Not that I’m bitter or anything (I type as I look longingly towards the Spidey outfit hanging in my closet).

Three-bedroom houses in Ohio sell for an average price of $119,000, or $80 per square foot. While residents of several cities across the country would already consider these listings to be a steal, a little investigation can dig up even better bargains. The list below reveals the four cities with the cheapest homes in Ohio, and the one area of the state that is more expensive than the rest.

Cheapest for Homeownership

Dayton, Ohio ranks within BusinessWeek’s 2009 Cheapest Homeownership Markets. Residents pay about $8,420 per year in mortgage payments and taxes. Houses cost an average of $109,000, with the Forest Ridge Quail Hollow, McPherson, and Oregon neighborhoods being the most expensive. Homes in the Miami Chapel, North Riverdale, and University Row neighborhoods can be purchased for under $50,000.

Cheapest Housing Deals

In addition to giving another vote to Dayton, the International Business Times had chosen Toledo as the best marketplace for housing deals in Ohio. Properties east of the Maumee River tend to be the least expensive, with average prices between $33,000 and $44,000.

Cheapest Mortgage Payment

CNN Money picks Youngstown as Ohio’s cheapest place to live. As little as $10,000 can buy a three-bedroom single family house, while $155,000 buys a five-bedroom home sitting on 2.5 acres. By the way, a 30-year mortgage payment on a $10,000 house comes to about $67 per month.

Cheapest Homes Near Civilization

Not everyone wants to give up amenities to live in inexpensive rural settings. Based on average salaries, unemployment rates, crime rates, and cultural indices, Forbes.com had picked the Cleveland/Elyria area as one of the best housing bargains in Ohio. Houses in Elyria sell for as little as $7 per square foot, versus $80 per square foot for the state average, and the city is only about 40 minutes away from Cleveland’s theaters, sports teams, restaurants, and attractions.

Where Cheap Houses Are Rare

If you are looking for the cheapest homes in Ohio, avoid the central part of the state. According to a 2011 report by the Columbus Dispatch, all four of the most expensive markets — Upper Arlington, Galena, Powell, and Dublin — are all situated in central Ohio.

The moral of the story? Cheap homes can be found nearly anywhere across the state, as long as you are willing to put in some effort to look for them. These houses let your wallet relax while the family settles in.

Are you searching for brand-new films on DVD? You have come to the right post. We list five brand-new motion pictures on DVD that are sure to please even the most finicky viewer. (Or for the next time you are updating your Netflix queue.)

Devil - Produced by M. Night Shyamalan and directed by John Erick Dowdle, this suspense film orbits around 5 apparently nondescript people captive inside an elevator. But one of these strangers is not at all ordinary…they are in reality Lucifer in disguise. As you might expect, the Devil has a dark agenda of his own. (You can find more movies about the Devil here.)

Salt - Angelina Jolie stars as CIA agent Evelyn Salt, who has to go on the run after being accused of being a sleeper agent. Jolie suitably flexes her action chops, and the fine supporting cast features Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice – Nicolas Cage depicts an immortal wizard who mentors a physics pupil played by Jay Baruchel. Teresa Palmer portrays the love interest. Meanwhile, sinister magician Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina) is active trying to awaken Morgana le Fay (Alice Krige) and conquer the world.

Cyrus - John’s divorce hurt, and adjusting has been hard. Then he meets the beguiling Molly (Marisa Tomei), and everything seems to click. But there’s just one problem: Molly’s grown son Cyrus (Jonah Hill) has no intention of losing his mother to another man. Sparks fly.

Valhalla Rising – A mute Norse warrior goes on a journey with a young boy. Nicolas Winding Refn directs. Mads Mikkelsen and Maarten Stevenson star. There is not much dialogue during the movie, but the blood and symbolism are thick.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this list of recent motion pictures on DVD. These suggestions represent my picks for the best films currently obtainable for home video fans. Enjoy.

Sometimes, the best way to chill out and relax with our kids is to take some time out on the front yard and engage in some fun games that resemble shooting and striking – the harmless, fun only way, of course. What better way to enjoy it than with the N Strike Stampede ECS Blaster from Nerf toys. Not only has it got a cool look and brighter colors, it’s got a really fun dart blast mechanism that simply offers no harm and pure fun at play. Pack in at least two of this cool contraption this Christmas – the N Strike Stampede ECS Blaster from Nerf is sure to make cool Christmas gifts for the kids!

What You Need to Know

The N Strike Stampede ECS Blaster from Nerf toys may be one cool play thing, but the thing is, there’s got to be some preparation and maintenance involved. One such is the power that is needed to operate the N Strike Stampede ECS Blaster. Actually, to power it up, one would need 6 batteries, all in all. And, this needs to be the D type of batteries. To be able to get the toy, one would have to shell at least 50 dollars. That’s the price of this blasting thing in many toy shops out there.

Dish sets make great gifts, but remember to stick for the plain designs, just to be on the safe side.

A basic dish set refers to a set of dishes that can be referred to as a complete or usable set for use in the dining table. A basic dish set would almost always have in it three dinner plates. These will be very important since anything basically goes with the dinner plate – as long as a home has pieces of it, then it will be serving dinner just right. The reason why basic dish sets should have three pieces is so that the person will have one to use, one to spare, and the other to use for another meal in case the first one is in the washing. Other pieces in the basic dish set are bowls, teacups, and saucers.

Wrapping Dish Sets for Gifts

Dish sets make great gifts for housewarming parties, as well as for weddings, wedding shower parties, and all other occasions that are resplendent of a new beginning inside a new home. When choosing dish sets for gifts in these kinds of occasions, the safest dish set to go for would be those that have a neutral or plain design that will fit either male or female cohabitants in the house. One could also do well with a dish set that includes silver ware in it as well. When wrapping dish sets, make sure to store them in their original boxes and then, just wrap with appropriately designed gift wrap.

In occasions or cases a homeowner would like to save some extra room or space in his or her humble abode, having double sofa beds are some of the very ideal fixtures to consider. In situations where family, distant relatives, friends and visitors have to stay for the night for some reasons, these double sofa beds are very practical solutions. These home fixtures or furniture could be virtually situated anywhere at the home though others deemed that they are ideally placed in living rooms.

Double sofa beds are easily cleaned up or maintained because of their special materials. Individual usually and commonly express or tell a piece of a furniture as a couch if it could contain more than a person. Following this premise, a double sofa bed could be accepted as a kind of a couch in a very basic and generic understanding. In line with this, armrests are also a component of double sofa beds just like any couches. Since these fixtures are considered couches, placing them anywhere is definitely acceptable. In a living room of every home, couches are commonly placed.

There would be some sense of redefinition in a living room if the homeowner decided to go for sofa bed instead of the usual couch. The lounge, the family room and the den are some of the ideal places to put these double sofa beds.

Arts and Crafts incorporate several hobbies and activities which normally involve the production of unique hand-made items. People of all ages enjoy arts and crafts because it is fun and also a wonderful way to learn new skills and techniques to exhibit creativity. There are instances where it becomes necessary to buy large quantities of craft supplies. It is more likely for crafts supplies to be bought in bulk by schools, camps and some non-profit organizations. However, supplies may also be purchased in generous quantities by a single individual. The great thing about craft supplies is that they retain the ability to be stored for very long periods until you are ready to use them. There are many websites devoted to the sale of craft supplies a few of these sites will be listed below with a brief overview of what each site has to offer.

When someone sees the sign or an advertisement that claims “Going out of Business Sale” automatically he or she will think, “yes, I can get the best deals there”. In theory these sales should in fact save you the most money possible, based simply on the primary idea that the store will no longer be operational when the sale stops. However this is not always the case and it hence requires some vigilance on the part of any customer who is quickly moved to spend money at these sales. There are a couple factors to consider that can make these prices less competitive. Also in present times there has been an increase in the number of “going out of business sales” because of the recession that has not been good to many stores that have lost their edge. Fortunately there has been some media coverage on this issue which has helped to uncover some of the less than ideal activities that have occured during these sales.

Factors that May Affect Liquidation Sales

The greatest factor that leads to less substantial benefits from these types of sales are as a result of the use of liquidators who usually manage these sales. Most large chains will hire liquidation companies to carry out these sales. Once a liquidator is involved they will try to obtain the greatest profit on behalf of their company. They do not operate at a loss nor do they discount the items in favour of the customers. It has been suggested that liquidators often raise the prices at the start of the sale and progressively lower these prices during the period in which the sale will last.

Liquidators are not above misleading customers into believing that the products are substantially discounted and are possibly the lowest prices they will encounter during that period. The liquidators as said previously function purely to make a profit. They will not end the sale with a loss. It is even said that these liquidators will sell any excess merchandise to overseas locations that are more willing to buy merchandise at any cost in lieu of decreasing the price below a profitable margin.

Another factor that may affect going out of business sales may be as a result of illegal activities. This simply refers to those sales that are truly not going out of business sales. In cases like these a sign that indicates a closing down sale will be erected, however there will be no actual reduction in the prices. In certain states laws are put in place to lessen the numbers of scams that occur. However, they still manifest occasionally and are most obvious when the store is located within an individual’s area.

How to Find Going out of Business Sales

If the company is a large enough company these sales will be widely advertised on the television. You may see these advertisements on normal network channels quite often.

Another great place to check is your local newspaper or other newspapers that should also advertise these sales frequently.

The internet is also another search tool that will provide you with adequate information on these types of sales.

If you are an avid radio listener you will also have the privilege of using this source to detect any “going out of business sales”.
