How to submit your website to general directories?
A web directory contains integral links to web resources categorized by industry and niche.
It is important that you submit your website to web directories in order to acquire back links and improve search engine rankings and traffic to the website as a result.
Directory Submissions are a very important link building exercise.
Steps involved in directory submission:
1. Type in the URL of the directory into your browser address bar. You can find a list of free directories to submit to over at lists.qualitysubmissions.com
2. Once youﾒve entered the homepage of the web directory, choose the industry most relevant to your website topic. Eg: If your website has informationa bout music, you should select the Entertainment > Music industry in the web directory.
3. Once youﾒve selected the industry and navigated to the industry page, click on the ﾓsubmit linkﾔ / ﾓsubmit urlﾔ / ﾓadd urlﾔ link in the top or right hand side sidebar.
4. Once in the submission page, choose the link type / provide the required details including website URL, description, industry and keywords; once done, hit the submit button.
5. You will have to provide an email address while submitting to the web directory, once youﾒve submitted to the directory, open up the email id you supplied and click on the confirmation email you get from the directory.
You will get an email from the web directory when your link is approved; this will help you keep track of your submissions.
